Loan Periods and Fines
Policy # LIB 002-003

The purpose of the Loan Periods and Fines Policy is to ensure maximum accessibility to the Quest University Canada (QUC) Library collection by striking a balance between the needs of its users and the restrictions necessitated by the collection size and scope.  This policy will continually change to reflect the development and expansion of the library collection and the growing needs of its patrons.

A valid student, faculty or staff card must be presented when borrowing or renewing library materials.  Borrowers are responsible for all materials charged to the card.  Library cards are not transferable between users.

QUC alumni have borrowing privileges.  To open account, an alumnus must present their QUC ID card, a piece of ID with a local address, and a valid email address to circulation staff.  Alumni can borrow books and media items, and access electronic resources on-site.  There is no proxy access for alumni users.

Council of Post Secondary Library Directors (CPSLD) Reciprocal Borrowing Program

This program extends borrowing privileges to all other CPSLD member libraries for QUC students, staff and faculty.

QUC Users

If you would like to borrow resources from a member library, please keep in mind:

  • You must follow the policies and regulations of the member library (SFU, UBC, Capilano University, etc.)
  • You are responsible for any fines incurred from borrowing resources at a member library
  • You are responsible for returning items to the member library.  QUC Library will not return these items for you.

If you’d like a CPSLD Reciprocal Borrowing card, please bring your Quest ID to a Library staff member.

CPSLD Member Library Users

Students, staff and faculty from member libraries can get a QUC Library Card by presenting their home institution ID or the CPSLD Reciprocal Borrowing Card to the Circulation Desk.

CPSLD member library users are allowed to check-out up to five (5) books only at this time; media items are not available for loan in this program.

All CPSLD member library users must follow the policies and regulations of QUC Library including fines and lost item replacement.

QUC Library Cards expire on August 31 for that academic year.

Community Users

At this time, community users will not be able to borrow items from the QUC Library.  This status will change as the collection continues to grow.  All resources, including online databases and books, are available for use on site.
