In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 11,900 journals and a total of more than 12,000 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) Open Access
The Directory of Open Access Journals provides access to full-text, quality-controlled scientific and scholarly journals. Their aim is to cover all subject areas and languages. Currently there are 3310 journals in the directory, and hundreds of thousands of articles. Subjects include: arts and architecture, biology and life sciences, earth and environmental sciences, languages and literature, law and political science, philosophy and religion, physics and astronomy, and more. 
ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) Open Access
Access to journal articles and other education-related materials.
E-STAT  Open Access
Extremely large database of Canadian Census and CANSIM data. Tables of information on demographics, agriculture, industry, and other areas of Canadian society and economy. Geosearch 2006 allows users to view electoral districts, census areas, and economic regions starting from a location on a map of Canada.

Open Access and Free Journals Open Access
Access to more than 5,000 online journals available through the British Columbia Electronic Library Network. Not all of the journals have full text; some are indexed only. All subjects.
Public Library of Science (PLoS) Open Access
The Public Library of Science is a nonprofit organization of scientists and physicians dedicated to making the world’s scientific and medical literature freely available public resources. Subjects include biology, medicine, computational biology, genetics, pathogens, and neglected tropical diseases. 
PubMed Open Access
PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 17 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources.

Covers the "latest concepts, trends, opinions, theories, and methods from both applied and theoretical aspects of the social sciences" (Home).

SPARC Open Access
The Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition is an international alliance of academic and research libraries working to correct the imbalances in the scholarly publishing system. SPARC "supports[s] open access to address the high and rising cost of scholarly journals, especially in science, technology, and medicine- a trend which inhibits the advancement of scholarship" (SPARC, home).
