BORROWING, RENEWING AND PLACING HOLDS

BORROW

Quest students, faculty and staff may borrow books and audiovisual materials from the general collection.

All current issue magazines, newspapers, reference items and Keystone Projects must be used in the Library.

Users are responsible for all lost or damaged Library items checked out on their card.

STUDENTS

Present your valid student card or picture ID to borrow library materials. Cards are not transferable between users.

  • The loan period for books and DVDs is one week
  • Books can be renewed online two times
  • Materials are due by Library closing on the due date

FACULTY & STAFF

To borrow or renew library materials, present your valid faculty or staff card, or picture ID. Cards are not transferable between users.

  • The loan period for books is one term, with up to two online renewals
  • The load period for DVDs is one week with no online renewals
  • Materials are due by Library closing on the due date

ALUMNI

Alumni have borrowing privileges at Quest Library:

  • Quest alumni may borrow up to five books
  • Alumni do not have off campus access to the library’s electronic resources

To open an alumni account, proof of alumni status is required. Library staff will confirm this with the Registrar. Please be prepared to present:

  • a Quest University ID card
  • a piece of ID with a local address
  • a valid email address

COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Community members are welcome to use print books and electronic resources in the Library. At this time, community users may not borrow items or access Keystone Projects.

RENEW PRINT BOOKS

Books and DVDs may be renewed up to two times online through your account. Course reserves may not be renewed.

PLACE A HOLD

If the book you want is checked out, you can place a hold online through your account.

When the book becomes available, you will be notified by email. The book will be held for you for three days.

If the book you want appears to be checked out by faculty or staff, place the book on hold and email or speak to a Library staff member who will contact the borrower to recall the book.

Holds may only be placed on books from Stacks or Oversize Books. For any other hold request, please speak with a Library staff member.
