OVERDUE, LOST AND DAMAGED QUEST LIBRARY BOOKS AND DVDS
OVERDUE FINES
Quest Library does not collect payment for overdue fines from patrons. This decision is informed by the Honour Principle, which all incoming students pledge to uphold at Convocation.
While not collected, fines do accrue on patrons’ Library accounts, and may block borrowing privileges if:
- the balance exceeds $50
- five items or more are marked as lost
To restore borrowing privileges, patrons must speak with a Library staff person. If you have questions, please email circ@questu.ca or ask at the Circulation desk.
Check your Quest Library account.
LOST ITEMS
Quest Library patrons are responsible for replacement costs and processing fees for lost items.
Overdue items are marked lost by the circulation system upon the third notice.
Lost charges are posted to a patron’s account only after a final recovery effort by Quest Library staff. This consists of a personalized reminder email followed by an itemized account of the total charge that will be posted if lost items are not returned by a specified date.
Quest Library does not collect payment from patrons directly. Patrons pay for lost or damaged items through their account with Quest Finance.
DAMAGED ITEMS
Damaged items are assessed by Library staff and decisions are emailed to patrons.
The total charge is the replacement cost of each item plus a processing fee of $20 per item. The total charge is posted to the patron’s account with Quest Finance.
Quest Library does not collect payment from patrons directly. Patrons pay for damaged items through their account with Quest Finance.
